Jocelyn Eliza has arrived!

Sorry about the long departure from the blog. As cliche' as it sounds, it's been a really busy two weeks. I have no idea when she'll wake up, so I'm going to get some pictures up here now and work on the blog as time (and baby) permits!

Here I am at 5:30am on her birthday

Jocelyn Eliza Blake born at 9:03pm on December 26th. She was 6lbs and 13oz, 19 3/4 inches.

The very proud Daddy.

Jocelyn is all ready to come home from the hospital.

More to come!

Week 37/Doctor Visit

I've decided to combine the two weekly events, since both are so un-interesting. At this point, it's just waiting.

Little One is officially full term! She's probably around 6 1/2 pounds and measures a bit over 19 inches, head to heel. Alex and I are guessing she has long legs because the little bump we think is her bum is pretty far way from the little bumps we thing are her feet.

When I went to the doctor, I had made a lot of progress. She didn't think that the baby would come this week, but was happy about the changes. I guess being on my feet so much has been good.

Week 36

We're creeping to the end. Believe it or not, I am more comfortable now than I was a few weeks ago. I think it is because she's dropped enough that she's not in my lungs anymore but not far enough where I feel much pressure.

Little One is still packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. She is more than 18 1/2 inches long. She's shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered her body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected her skin during her nine-month amniotic bath. At the end of this week, she'll be considered full-term. I need to make it another 2 weeks to get all of my work, gymnastics, Christmas shopping and nursery things done. After that, I think I will be anxiously awaiting her arrival.

This week's Doctor

I start going to the doctor every week now. Today was my first one to get checked. Everything is as normal as can be. The baby is measuring normally, and Dr. Gibbs thinks she is about 6 or 6 1/2lbs. I'm not in any danger of going into labor anytime soon and based on how everything was the Dr. thinks she should arrive on time.

I've gained 32lbs so far. The nurse said that was fine. My blood pressure is still very low, but my pulse is very high. I can tell that the baby is dropping.

Last night I had a dream I was holding her. She had a lot of dark hair. I changed her diaper and put her in a dress and then held her more. It was an awesome dream.
