Naming the Baby

Some of you may remember that Alex and I had a difficult time deciding on a name. We just didn't agree on anything. Many people have asked us if Jocelyn is a family name or why we chose it. Here is the reason:

This is my grandmother (my mother's mother), Jean Eloise. She is the oldest daughter born May 22nd, 1929.

This is my mother, Judy Ellen. She is the oldest daugther born on October 7th, 1957.

Then there is me, Jamie Elissa, oldest daughter born April 20th, 1981.

So when we found out we were going to have a girl, we decided to continue with the tradition. Now Josie is the 4th generation to have the initials J. E.

We agreed on Jocelyn Eliza: (Click on the name to find more info)

That's a really cool way to pass on girls' names. It's not very common to name your daughter after yourself (Jamie Jr.?) but to give her your same initials, and the same initials as her grandma and great-grandma...that's really neat.

YAY! I'm so glad I checked your blog today. I've thought about you often while away for the holidays but kept forgetting to check your blog (doesn't help that the in-laws still have dial-up!). SHE IS GORGEOUS!! Can't wait to see her in person! Hope labor/delivery/recovery has been going well. See you soon and CALL ME if you need anything! :)

Not to mention, Auntie Jessica coming in at Jessica Elizabeth. (First five letter match my niece's middle name, too!) Let's not forget about me! It doesn't have to be the oldest! (Linda doesn't count.)
