No naps

You may remember my post about trying to make a nap routine. Well, after nearly 4 weeks of trying, I'm hear to report that we have FAILED.

My daughter won't nap.

She's in her crib wimpering as we speak. She slept for a whopping 20 minutes this afternoon. I was holding her for the first 15 minutes.

I give up.

Bigger and Smarter every day

Jocelyn is beginning to learn that she can have an effect on her environment. She was in her bouncy chair today getting very frustrated when it wouldn't make noise. She would get very excited when it did. I took nearly 10 minutes of video, here is the best one:

Tummy Time

I've been paranoid about Jocelyn getting "flat head syndrome". Since she was born, she has hated "tummy time". I usually put her down on her stomach at least once a day. Once in a while I might get two full minutes before she's screaming. Then one day:

She still doesn't love it, but she tolerates it now.

Josie's new trick

Ever since she started to be able to hold her head up a few weeks ago we've been working on our "sit ups". She is getting so good at it and her proud mother video taped it. (She still needs to work on balancing by herself)

This morning I was sitting on the bed against the wall with Josie on my stomach leaning back against my legs. Her little hands were holding onto my fingers and she pulled herself up! She pulled herself up to a sit all on her own.

Today we visited my friend in the hospital who just had a little baby boy. It just amazes me how much Josie has grown and developed in just 2 1/2 short months.

Mommy diary: On preparedness

I always feel a bit silly lugging around my very large pink diaper bag. Do I really need all of the things in there wherever I go?

Today we're in Stillwater for a gymnastics meet. It made most sense for us to come down with Alex when he left for school, though that put us down here much much earlier than we really needed to be. Lucky for us, my sister (Aunt Jessica) lives in Stillwater so we are camped out in her apartment until this afternoon when we can check into the hotel.

As soon as we get to her place, Josie spits up. Everywhere. Projectile. My shirt is saturated. I had to wash it in the sink and then dry it with a blow dryer. (It got a little on the couch too, don't tell Jess)

About 10 minutes later (just after I've changed her diaper and her clothes), Josie poops. Everywhere. Projectile. Time for a sponge bath with baby wipes and new clothes, again.

So is it worth lagging around 2 sets of clothes, 1000 wipes, 500 diapers, washcloths, burp rags, and a rattle every place I go?

After this last hour traveling in Stillwater, I'm going to go with yes.

I think she does this kind of stuff for fun. She's laughing on the inside.

Catching some ZZZs

Twelve blessed hours. That is how long Jocelyn slept last night. Then comes my favorite part of the day: the morning. She is so absolutely adorable in the mornings. For about an hour and a half she is so happy and playful. She smiles constantly and kicks her fat little legs. She is very fun.

While getting her to sleep at night time is easy, day time naps are not. She hardly sleeps during the day unless someone is holding her. She fusses before falling asleep for naps and it's getting much worse. So, I've decided that we are going to start trying to get more regular with naps. I read a little about it in an article called Naps: The basics. It's pretty easy to tell when she gets tired. She also seems to do well on a scheduled (that's my daughter!), so I think it will be relatively easy. We'll see :)

Josie's Funny Expressions

Jocelyn is so fun. She is becoming more and more interactive. She comes up with some pretty funny faces. I've only been able to catch a few on camera.

Baby Olympics

Alex playing with Jocelyn (she liked it the first few times we did it but by the time the camera she was getting a bit tired of it)

We call this the "Baby Olympics"
